LIVESTOCK SLAUGHTER: Beef production, at 2.40 billion pounds, was 2 percent above the previous year. Cattle slaughter totaled 2.90 million head, up 2 percent from October 2021. The average live weight was down 1 pound from the previous year, at 1,375 pounds
RED MEAT PRODUCTION BY STATE: The United States produced 4.76 billion pounds of red meat in October 2022, up 5.5 million pounds from the same time last year
CATTLE SLAUGHTER BY STATE: The United States slaughtered 2.9 million head of cattle in October 2022, up 52K head from the same time last year
